Inspiration:
Being in the military, Laura’s husband moves from all the time and this inspired her to start their business. Their business only started as a side hustle and it grew from there.
Challenge:
Time is one of the big obstacles that they bumped into when they started their business. They also had a problem asking for the right price for their work. Laura had no idea how clients paid freelance writers.
Overcoming Challenges:
Laura started on a couple of small projects rather than taking big ones. She learned that it’s better to start on an hourly rate that you feel solid with and estimate how many hours it takes to complete a certain project and use those first couples of jobs as an added experience.
Passion:
Laura really loves writing books. Her freelance career opened the opportunity to write books. She really loves the process even though it can be overwhelming and exhausting and sometimes even frustrating, for her, it’s all worth it.
Vision:
Laura wants to impact 50,000 freelancers. A lot of us focus on being a 6-figure earner every month. But for Laura, it’s like being empty and for a while, she started to think more about the impact it gives to the freelancing community.
Advice:
The best advice Laura received was from one of her early mentors who taught him about delegating and outsourcing not just even in business.
Personal Growth:
Laura has become much more confident in negotiating and much better when it comes to her boundaries. She learned that not everyone can be your clients. You have to set parameters when it comes to choosing clients. We all have limited time and energy and it should go to the right people.

Looking Back:
If Laura will go back to her younger self, she will tell her to definitely to stand-up to herself sooner. Always trust your intuition. Be aware that burnout is a real thing.
